1 Peter 5:5-7
We certainly like the idea of “casting all our cares and anxieties on Jesus’, as the passage ends, “because he cares for you.” Jesus is caring, and humble, and love. But what do you do with the pervious versus?
Terms like submission to elders, clothing of humility, and pride?
Do not divorce his care for you, and his bearing your anxiety and care from your role of becoming Christ like. If you only look to Jesus to take away your cares and anxiety you miss the point. The passage does say that you will be exalted, but that only happens on God’s time and under His authority.
Humble yourselves, clothe yourself in humility toward one another. Humility always serves the other.
